33. Learn to Purl

I finally figured out how to purl! I've tried several times and had a bunch of expert knitters try to help me, but alas, I just could not figure out how to "knit backwards," which is what some people like to call purling. I was finally able to do it when I spent several hours watching different videos. Using my new-found skill, I made a scarf and a hat for a friend. I used a pattern I found in The Chicks with Sticks Guide to Knitting. The pattern was really easy and I think the hat and scarf turned out really nice. The color might have been a bad choice, orange doesn't look good on everyone, but I think she will like it. I'm going to give it to her for Christmas so it will be a little while before I have a picture of her with it.
Now that I can purl, I plan on spending much more time knitting. Maybe I'll try and make a sweater one day. I also love that I found out about all the knitting instruction videos that are available on youtube.

34. Lattice Top Pie

For Thanksgiving this year I made a lattice-top apple pie for my family's dinner. I thought it would be so much more complicated, but it turned out to be very simple with good directions.

I made it in a very cool pie plate that I got at an antique store. It has an apple pie recipe in the middle of the dish. I used that recipe because it was simple and didn't have too many ingredients, which are two things I look for in a recipe.

37. Brushes and Beverages

For my birthday this year my friends and I went to a painting class at Brushes and Beverages in Columbus, GA. We painted Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. We had a really fun time trying to copy the masterpiece.I think the best one was my mom's painting, but my tree was the best. I just could not get a handle on making small little swishes for the stars and the "wind."

Changes...

Well, I won't be able to do my #6 goal because Susan, my big sister who lives in Colorado, is getting married and moving to England! I'm a little upset about not getting to go to Colorado because I was hoping to try out this whole skiing thing, but I guess I will have to try and get over it when I visit her across the pond!

14. Visit to Ole Miss

I was able to go visit my two cousins who go to Ole Miss over the weekend of January 23. I was invited to be a part of my cousin KK's initiation into Chi Omega, my sorority.

I decided to make a nice weekend out of the trip and got to hang out with my other cousin Patricia as well as my aunt and uncle. I'd never been to Ole Miss, which is located in Oxford, Mississippi, but I loved the university and the town. I definitely want to visit again. Hopefully the next time I can go will be during football season because I would love to see a game!

71. Get a Suit

Today my mom and I found a beautiful black suit. It;s great! I think the thing I love most about it are the buttons. The little bit of gold gives the suit just the right amount of bling and gives it a youthful feel. This is not your mother's suit. I also got a great pair of what my mom refers to as "sensible" heels. I think this outfit will give me an edge in the interviewing world because it is just so pretty and professional! I wanted something that was really smart because its so important to present yourself as someone who is professional and excited about the job opportunity.

12. Trip to Boston

My friend Jessica and I took a little trip to Boston, mostly for my friend Megg's wedding, but we used the opportunity to see some sites.

We got to see so much snow! This is what it looked like the night of the wedding. I was so glad we didn't have to drive in it!

We visited the Samuel Adams brewery, which was really fun. It's in the middle of a neighborhood, but we still found it. The tour was free and they gave us a sweet tasting glass and free beer. Out of everything we did, this is the thing I would do again if I ever go back up north.

We also visited the Museum of Fine Arts, which I had already been to, but it is so nice, its worth a second trip. We spent most of the day there and I think we saw everything that was on display. There were a few things I remembered from my last trip that I didn't see, but I'm just going to assume they were not out on display.

A little art

This has to be my favorite historical building in Boston. Its the Old State House. Out in front is where the Boston Massacre took place. I love the decor on the outside and its so neat to stand in a place where history happened.

My people

I also wanted to visit the Boston Public Library, which was the first public library in the United States. I love a good library.

Clam Chowder.
So tasty.

I love penguins. In case anyone wanted to know what is up with all the penguins.
